What Never Leaves Your Device
Your preferences — colors, saved themes, shape, heat, wax, and every other setting — are stored locally using standard system storage. Love a Lamp has no account system and no server of its own. There is nothing to sign in to.
The app does not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, location, or any advertising identifier. It shows no ads, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
Anonymous Usage Analytics (Opt-In)
Love a Lamp can report anonymous usage analytics to help find bugs and decide what to work on next. This is off by default. On first launch the app asks once; if you choose "Not Now", nothing is ever sent. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy.
If you turn it on, the app records product-interaction events such as:
- App launches, and how long a session lasted
- Which built-in presets get applied, and when a theme is saved or deleted
- Which toggles get flipped and roughly where sliders land (grouped into coarse buckets, not exact values)
- Whether Ambient Mode, the floating lamp, or a widget was used
- Which platform the app is running on, plus the app version and build number
What is deliberately not included:
- No name, email address, or account of any kind — the app never identifies you
- No advertising identifier, and no device identifier that we set or can read
- No chosen colors — raw color values and the names you give your saved themes are never sent
- No precise location, contacts, photos, or file contents
Events carry an anonymous, randomly generated identifier created on the device so that a sequence of events can be recognised as one install. It is not linked to you, to an account, or to any Apple-issued device identifier, and it is discarded when analytics are switched off.
Who Processes That Data
Analytics are processed by PostHog, Inc. on our behalf, using their US-hosted service (us.i.posthog.com). PostHog acts as a data processor and does not sell the data or use it for advertising. Their privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy.
PostHog is the only third-party service the app talks to. There are no advertising SDKs, no attribution SDKs, and no social login providers.
iCloud Settings Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, Love a Lamp can keep your settings and saved themes in step across your devices using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. That data travels between your devices through your own iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it and no way to read it. Turning off iCloud for Love a Lamp in your system settings stops the sync.
Your Choices and Rights
- Turn analytics off (or on): Settings → Privacy, at any time. Switching off stops all collection immediately and clears the anonymous identifier.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes all locally stored settings.
- Ask about your data: because the analytics are anonymous, we generally cannot connect any record to you — but if you have a question or a request under GDPR, CCPA, or similar law, get in touch and we will do what we can.
Children
The app contains no age-restricted content and is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the optional analytics described above collect no personal information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
If the app's functionality changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated. Check back here for the latest version.
